The majority of Cara's portfolio consists of paintings and drawings of flowers. She is fascinated by the delicate petals and bright colors and aims to capture the astonishing movement and beauty found in each bloom. Cara uses magnification to create most of her botanical compositions with the intent of portraying a familiar subject in an alternative way.

When painting people, Cara takes a different approach than that of her floral compositions. Instead of increasing the size and proportions of her subjects, she typically incorporates them into a large landscape setting. This allows her viewers to not focus on the subject but on the composition as a whole.
